God's Purpose: Honour Him
God created man to honour, serve and fellowship with Him.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:11
Mankind's Problem: Sin
Man chose to sin against God rather than serve Him.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
Sin's Penalty: Death
Man's choice to disobey God resulted in death. The basic meaning of death is separation. The Bible teaches that there are three types of death or separation that result from sin - spiritual, physical and eternal. Eternal death forever separates a person, both body and soul, from God in a place of unending punishment.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Revelation 21:8
How Can We Have Life?
Throughout history individuals have tried many ways to gain or earn eternal life, but every attempt has been unsuccessful.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:12
Christ's Payment
Jesus Christ, God's sinless Son, was sent by the Father to pay the penalty for our sin by dying on the cross in our place and rising from the dead on the third day.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
Our Pardon: Turn & Trust
In order to receive Jesus Christ as Lord, we must repent of our sin and put our unreserved trust in Jesus Christ alone as the only hope of eternal life.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.
Acts 3:19a
God's Promise: Eternal Life
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:24
