Music
Many contemporary Christians have argued that words alone make a song Christian. They argue that music is amoral, there is no such thing as "Christian music," and music style does not matter.
The notion that music is itself amoral demonstrates an embarrassing musical naiveté and a careless dismissal of the enduring work of musical theorists. From ancient Greeks to the rock stars of the modern era, musicians have all understood that the creative act of music can powerfully influence the human soul. Music speaks the language of emotion in a way words alone cannot.
Since the influence of music has potential for good and evil, the musical expressions used by the worshipping Christian assembly should be free of the messages conveyed by godless music...messages of sensuality and hopelessness.
Instead Christian music should be characterized by the unique love, joy, and peace that is brought about the Holy Spirit. Christian music must also be delivered in a manner distinct from the worldly performance style which magnifies the flesh in its use of the voice, bodily movement, and sensual dress.
